Jason Blake Mabee has been located in Columbia

At this point I have no additional details about where Jason Blake Mabee was located or what condition he is in at this time. I am guessing that information will be released in the near future. The image above came from the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/findingjasonmabee/

I am just thankful that he was found today.

Article update…information from HCPD:

NEWS RELEASE: Missing man Jason Mabee located alive but injured in Columbia

Missing Ellicott City man Jason Blake Mabee, 44, was located alive but injured in a densely wooded area in Columbia this afternoon. He was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries sustained from what police believe may have been an accidental fall.

Police were in the area assisting a volunteer search party when a member with a personal drone located Mabee in a densely wooded area near the intersection of Presbyterian Circle and Route 108 just after 12:30 p.m. Officers immediately made their way to Mabee, who was conscious, but injured. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Mabee’s family initially filed a missing person report the morning of July 23 after becoming concerned about his welfare. Throughout the week, police checked hospitals and shelters, local parks and areas he was known to frequent.

Preliminarily police have found no indications of foul play.

Still super happy for Mabee and his family. I hope HCPD and the County Executive remember this part of the story “Police were in the area assisting a volunteer search party when a member with a personal drone located Mabee” as they continue to consider the use of drones in Howard County.

  1. This should have never gone this long, it’s absolutely ridiculous that the police dept owns a helicopter with one of the best cameras and thermal imagers made. It sits idle in a hanger with perfectly trained personnel working other assignments. Calvin Ball and Chief Meyers should he ashamed of themselves for what they have done to the capabilities of the police department. I was in Aviation for 18 yrs before retiring last year, these types of missions accounted for a large part of what we did, and it was effective. I can’t begin to tell people how many of these incidents we flew on and had success finding people. Thank god this man is still alive, I’m glad he didn’t become Balls Willie Horton moment.
