Local man arrested in Columbia homicide

Howard County police have charged a local man in the shooting death of 21-year-old Taiwon Dashon Dorsey on July 20 in Columbia.

Franck Ngande, 22, of Green Meadow Drive, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, assault, drug possession and the use of a firearm in a felony. He is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.

Police were called July 20 to the 12000 block of Little Patuxent Parkway at approximately 1:28 p.m. for a report that a man had been shot. Officers arrived at the scene and located Dorsey suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he later died.

Through investigation, police learned that Dorsey had an ongoing dispute with Ngande. On the day of the shooting, Dorsey and a friend went to Ngande’s neighborhood and a physical altercation ensued. During the incident, Ngande reportedly went into his residence, retrieved a gun and fired multiple shots as Dorsey and his friend ran from the scene. Dorsey was struck once and ran toward Little Patuxent Parkway, where he collapsed.

Police apprehended Ngande July 22 in the area of Little Patuxent Parkway without incident.
