Here is information released from the Howard County Sheriff’s Office via Facebook:
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a man who fled from a deputy this afternoon. Denard Vonzel Thomas, 37, of in Laurel, was arrested on a warrant in the 9200 block of Berger Road in Columbia around 3 p.m. He resisted arrest and after being handcuffed behind his back, fled from the deputy.
Law enforcement officials immediately launched a search of the area, but were not able to locate Thomas. Through investigation, they believe he left the area.
At the time of his arrest, Thomas was being taken into custody for a violation of probation on a second-degree assault charge. Deputies are now applying for additional charges for resisting arrest, fleeing and eluding and second-degree assault on the Deputy. Thomas is described as a black male, 5’4, 165 pounds and last seen wearing a dark blue uniform with the company name “Lube Center.”
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact authorities at 410-313-2200 or 911. The Sheriff’s Office will conduct a standard review to confirm all agency protocols were followed during the incident.
