Here is information from Howard County Public Schools:

When / Where: Thursday, April 25, 6 p.m. – Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL), Room B-37, 10920 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City

Parents/guardians of, and current high school juniors interested in learning how to begin your career while still in high school are invited to attend this information session on the HCPSS Apprenticeship Maryland Academy.

Earlier this year, HCPSS announced the launch of the new academy, which helps students gain sustainable employment and further education based on career pathways in manufacturing and STEM occupations. The youth apprenticeship program provides students the opportunity to “earn and learn” through on-the-job training.

Current opportunities include:

  • Construction and Development
  • Environmental, Agriculture and Natural Resources
  • Human Resource Services
  • Information Technologies
  • Transportation Technologies

For more information about the program, email sdisceopolo@hcpss.org.

This appears to be a good opportunity for high school students to get some real world experience in a few career fields. I hope many take advantage of this opportunity and the list of opportunities expands to other careers in the future.
