In advance of the week 6 games today in the Alliance of American Football (AAF) league…I thought I would take a stab at my mid-season MVP candidates for the league at this point. Here are my top 4 players though week 5:

Garrett Gilbert – QB – Orlando Apollos

Notes: Gilbert has by far the best numbers of any QB in the league (1,357 yards passing, 8 TDs, 0 INTs, completion percentage is 62.8%) and most importantly his team is 5 and 0 mid way through the season.

Charles Johnson – WR – Orlando Apollos

Notes: Johnson has the most receiving yards receiving in the league (493), the most receptions in the league (29) and has 2 TDs on the season. When you can average nearly 100 yards per game receiving…you have to be in the mix for MVP.

Rashad Ross – WR – Arizona Hotshots

Notes: Ross is second in receptions (24) and second in receiving yards (401) but his big thing is receiving TDs (6) so far this season…by far the best in all of the AAF.

Trent Richardson – RB – Birmingham Iron

Notes: The big numbers we look at for running backs are always total yards or maybe even yards per carry…while Richardson is not rocking those numbers (181 yards with an average of 2.4 yards per carry)…where Richardson is outstanding is on the goal line because he has racked up 8 rushing TDs in five weeks. Folks…that is impressive and why he in on my short list for mid-season MVP.

Other notable players:

John Wolford – QB – Arizona Hotshots – most passing TDs in the league (10)

Kenneth Farrow, II – RB – San Antonio Commanders – most rushing yards in the league (305)

Karter Schult – DE – Salt Lake Stallion – most sacks in the league (5) and a good number of tackles as well (18).

Have other players that should be mentioned…let me know in the comments.

Here are the games schedule for today:

I am looking forward to the games…hope you are as well.
