Developer money was a big deal in the past election (especially in District 1)…I have not dug through each one of these contributors…but there is no question a decent amount of developer money on this report. I personally have no problem with it…but mention it because it was talked about A LOT in the last elect cycle. Here is some other interesting incoming funds to the campaign:

Contributions from Federal Committees

  • McGuire Woods, LLP PAC – $4,000

Maryland PAC Money:

  • Baltimore Gas and Electric PAC – $1,750
  • CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Associates’ PAC – $2,250
  • Howard County Professional Firefighters PAC – $4,500

  1. You may have no issue but many of us find this disgusting. The impact of growth in the County – storm water, schools and traffic – was THE issue in the 2018 election. Two of the contributors that stand out:
    – Don Reuwer who is in the midst of a fight with Historic Preservation on 17 homes in Lawyers Hill https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/howard/ph-ho-cf-lawyers-meeting-0124-story,amp.html
    and
    – Erickson Living which is attempting to get a major zoning change to allow it to build 1400 units of housing on a 63 acre plot in Clarksville (right across from RHHS) http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/howard/clarksville/ph-ho-cf-erickson-living-zoning-board-1019-story,amp.html

I’ve heard many times from politicians that accepting this sort of money does not effect decisions. But the homes and commercial developments continue to be built all over the County effecting all of our quality of life.

  2. One of the largest contributions is from David Flanagan President of Elm Street Development which has been trying to get a large (~ 400 units) over 55 community at Rt 99 and Bethany Lane for the past few years. Interesting that they were also contributors to Kittleman campaign.

I’m sure others can find additional connections to ongoing development proposals.
