Over the past weekend we had more vandalism at one of the local high schools (Howard High School). Here is a release sent out by Howard County Councilmember Opel Jones (District 2) on January 15th:
Here is some of the text of the release:
Over the extended weekend, my office was alerted of vandalism committed on the
campus of Howard High School. As your elected representative and former member of the Howard County Human Rights Commission, I have pledged my career and candidacy to continue to advocate for “Personal and Public Safety.” The incident at Howard High School is incredibly troubling as these egregious acts of hatred, bigotry, and anti-Semitism do not reflect the core values of who we are. Unequivocally denounce anti-Semitic ideologies, white supremacy, and neo-Nazi propaganda that weakens our community and has no place in our society. My office will work with the Howard County Police Department (HCPD), Howard County Board of Education Cluster Leaders (BOB), and Howard High School’s Principal to address the incident and persons involved.
It is my pleasure to serve you, your family, and residents of District 2. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office by calling (410) 313-2001 or emailing CouncilMail@howardcountymd.gov.
I hope you will continue to stay engaged by visiting my council website at https://cc.howardcountymd.gov/Districts/District-2.
Apparently there was a swastika and a penis drawn in the snow at Howard High School. We do not yet know who did this…but hopefully they are identified and punished appropriately soon…this stuff just needs to end around here.
If you have any information….reach out to HCPSS, HCPD or the County Council as soon as possible.
