After a fun season where the Ravens won the AFC North division…the season came to an end yesterday with a 23 to 17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
The keys to the game:
Turnovers – Ravens 3 | Chargers 1
Hard to win games when you lose the turnover battle
Yards Rushing – Ravens 90 | Chargers 89
Rushing yards was a key component to the Ravens winning at the end of the season…and rushing for under 100 yards was not going to get it done yesterday
Sacks – Ravens 1 | Chargers 7
Patrick Onwuasor recorded the only sack for the Ravens while the Chargers racked up seven against the Ravens.
Missed Field Goal by Tucker
As the loss was by more than three…this was not devastating but Justin Tucker missing a field goal yesterday was a bit of a surprise. It was a bit windy during the game…but still it was a rare miss for Tucker.
Offensive Line of the Ravens
This was one of the worst performances of any group yesterday. The Ravens offensive line got beat over and over yesterday…part of why the Chargers had seven sacks and held the Ravens to under 100 yards rushing.
It was a tough loss..but the future for the Ravens looks bright. The Ravens have a lot to deal with in the off season:
Head Coach John Harbaugh – The Ravens announced (on December 21st) that coach Harbaugh would receive a contract extension…but that has not been completed yet…and rumors are the Broncos and Dolphins are both interested in coach Harbaugh. Will the Ravens keep the head coach or decide now is the time to make a move in another direction?
Joe Flacco – Will they cut or trade him? Teams like Redskins and Jaguars (as well as others) are looking for quarterbacks…maybe the Ravens can make a deal to get something for Flacco. He will leave some dead cap money on the books (hopefully they wait until after June 1st…he will be cheaper to deal with after that in terms of dead money on the salary cap)…but the team showed yesterday that they have 100% moved on and this is the end of Joe Flacco in Baltimore.
Free Agents – The Ravens have a bunch of players without contracts going into 2019…the biggest being:
- Terrell Suggs
- John Brown
- C.J. Mosley
- Robert Griffin III

Hopefully the Ravens can build on what they did in 2018 and make next season another great one.
