Tom Coale was pushing for this…but Candace Dodson Reed has decided to not run for Delegate in District 12. From a public post on her Facebook page:

As many of you know, I love Howard County, our region, and our state and truly look for every opportunity to help make these places better for everyone. I believe that representation is important, inclusion is essential, and like Ms. Shirley Chisholm said, “You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas.”
Over the past couple of weeks, a number of public service opportunities have developed. I am humbled and feel honored to have been considered and supported for some of them. The support has truly touched my soul. At this time, however, after some thoughtful reflection, I have decided that I will not be running for a state delegate seat in District 12. I will, however, be running for re-election for a state central committee seat for Howard County.

I truly appreciate every text message, phone call, and visit to my house. I don’t want to shout out people by name (because I know I will inadvertently forget someone) but to the core groups of people and the individuals who have had countless conversations with me, I appreciate you more than I can articulate in this post. Thank you for getting me. And to my family, thank you for everything. Always.
I hope that I can count on your support as I run for re-election. And for anything else I may choose to dabble in.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Now what does Team 12 do? I am sure there are a lot of “hey you should run or you should run” conversations happening behind the scenes…and with only 6 days until the filing deadline…there are some that are getting nervous. There may be a plan but it sure doesn’t look like it at this point.
Delegate Lam has officially filed for Senate in D12 and withdrawn his name from the Delegate race….so someone will file soon…but who?
Do you have a favorite in District 12? Let me know in the comments.
It is going to be in the 70’s today…so I will be working outdoors…so excited for that…
