And you thought it was super early for candidates to start declaring to run for races in 2018…The Congressman from the 6th District in Maryland one ups everyone…John Delaney has announced he is running for President of the United States in 2020. Here is his statement via Washington Post:
The American people are far greater than the sum of our political parties. It is time for us to rise above our broken politics and renew the spirit that enabled us to achieve the seemingly impossible. This is why I am running for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States.

I have reported about candidates considering seeking the office currently held by John Delaney (READ HERE)…and Amie Hoeber tweeted this out soon after the announcement:
Amie Hoeber would be one of the front runners if not THE front runner for the GOP in the 6th District in 2018. I personally hope she decides to enter the race and continues the wonderful progress she made in the last election cycle. I know there are other GOP names out there and I am betting that a few of them will announce soon now that Delaney has made his decision.
As for John Delaney’s chances in 2020…who knows. We are talking about three years from now…and in the current political climate…anything is possible.
