2016 Long Reach High School Football Season

The 2016 season came to and end for Long Reach High School on Friday night with a loss to River Hill High School in the Maryland 3A east playoffs (20 to 14). It was an excellent season for the Lightning. Here is a statement from the Long Reach High School Boosters Facebook page:

Our beloved Lightning football squad battled all the way to the last second before falling 20-14 to River Hill in the MPSSAA 3A Regional playoffs and put an end to their remarkable season.

It was an exciting 2016 season that started with 7 straight wins that brought energy and pride to the LRHS community. Thank you to Coach Jamie Willis, the coaching and support staff and all the Lightning football players and their families. We wish our Seniors all the best. #LightningPride

Here is more from the Boosters Facebook page:

How remarkable is this year’s Lightning football season? We had more wins this year than the last 4 years combined, and we made the playoffs for the first time this decade. Let’s keep our heads up Long Reach, we our proud of our accomplishments and let’s continue to build on our success. Fall ball is officially ended and we start Winter ball (Girls and Boys Basketball, Wrestling and Allied Bowling) in 10 days. See you indoors! #LightningPride

This Senior class has shown the team that they can be competitive in Howard County and I look forward to watching what Coach Willis does with this team in the future.

Now and forever….GO LIGHTNING!!!
