Notes:

  • Miller Library was the top voting location every day of early voting.  Bain Center was the clear number two location to vote early in Howard County. It was great to see Ridgley’s Run have high volume of votes on day 8 (and I am really happy that I voted on day 7 at that location).
  • Early voting by party: (% is of registered voters)
    • Dem – 34,937 (34.00%)
    • Rep – 12,866 (22.59%)
    • Ind – 9,926 (22.53%)
    • Other – 764
  • Early voting by Council District: (% is of registered voters)
    • District 1 – 12,920 (30.81%)
    • District 2 – 11,049 (27.54%)
    • District 3 – 10,254 (26.38%)
    • District 4 – 12,963 (31.57%)
    • District 5 – 11,307 (24.98%)
  • In Howard County, 28.22% of all registered voters have cast votes. Here are some other counties as comparisons:
    • Statewide – 22.05%
    • Montgomery – 23.97%
    • Anne Arundel – 19.53%
    • Baltimore City – 16.97%
    • Baltimore County – 22.58%
    • Prince George’s – 26.94%
    • Carroll – 16.09%
    • Frederick – 18.31%
  • As mentioned above, total votes pick up slightly statewide (day 1 – 122,880, day 2 – 123,020, day 3 – 80,283, day 4 – 74,052, day 5 – 102,617, day 6 – 106,668, day 7 – 116,664, day 8 – 133,759). Prince George’s, Queen Anne’s and Talbot had the highest percentage turnout on day 8…then followed by Howard.
  • There are still two counties in the state outperforming Howard in percentage of eligible votes cast: Talbot (34.49%) and Queen Anne’s (30.75%)…so third best in the state is pretty darn good.
  • Democrats in Howard County are really coming out to vote (34% voted early) and GOP voters remain ahead of Independents with turnout…ever so slightly. I really thought the GOP numbers would jump higher as the week went on but that did not happen. Will they come out on the 8th?
  • District 4 and District 1 outperformed the other 3 Districts in Howard County. District 5 had the lowest turnout, but the early voting locations might have something to do with those numbers.
  •  A little history you might find interesting: (2016 early voting out performs the last two elections combined)

In 2014 Howard County had 21,432 votes cast in early voting (10.97% of eligible voters) over 8 days.
In 2012 Howard County had 30,463 votes cast in early voting (16.14% of eligible voters) over 7 days.
