I am happy to report that online posts are more frequent than the last report (which was really bad). Let us take a look at the new numbers…
The candidates: To see the full list of candidates click here
(D) Steny Hoyer: http://www.hoyerforcongress.com/
(R) Mark Arness: http://www.arnessforcongress.com/home.html
The Scorecard: (Click the follower numbers below to view the social media page)
- Hoyer was the big follower gainer over the past month on Facebook and Twitter. Glad to see those accounts active again.
- Arness did not do a great job adding new followers. Only 1 new follower on each social media account. No activity on Twitter over the past month…maybe they have just given up on outreach via that platform.
Normally I would do a Twitter engagement evaluation in this post but Arness did not have any tweets over the past month (nothing since late July) so obviously he loses in this evaluation area. Hoyer received an engagement score of 38 over his past 6 tweets in the last week.
Online outreach leader for August: HOYER. This was an easy one. Hoyer has been most active and received the most new followers and highest engagement score. Arness has a big hill to climb and not using online resources for voter outreach may cost him in November.
Of course the reality of followers, likes, and subscribers does not mean a lot when it comes down to voting in the end, but it can show trends in a campaign cycle and makes a great resource for following all of the candidates.
