This is my first look at this race since April. I have decided to add Gary Johnson to the scorecard (because why not). I may even add additional candidates in the future…you just never know with me. On the the evaluation…

The Scorecard: (Click the follower numbers below to view the social media page)
|Hillary Clinton||7.07 Million|
|Donald Trump||8.431 Million||9.25 Million|
- Clinton – Added just under a million new Facebook followers and just over one million new Twitter followers since the last evaluation.
- Trump – Added over 1.3 million new Facebook followers and 1.5 million new Twitter followers since the last evaluation. His online outreach remains the best of all candidates.
- Johnson – Has a big hole to climb out of in terms of online followers on Facebook and Twitter. Time will tell if he can gain any real momentum between now and November.
I am not reporting the engagement numbers in June. Let’s be honest…this is the slow part of the campaign season and I expect numbers to be lower overall for many candidates. I will start reporting engagement numbers in August and continue updating those numbers through the General Election. In August I will start picking an online outreach leader in each race.
Of course the reality of followers, likes, and subscribers does not mean a lot when it comes down to voting in the end, but it can show trends in a campaign cycle and makes a great resource for following all of the candidates.
