Notes:

  • There are still many candidates that appear not to have websites (at least that I could find). If anyone has updated information, let me know and I will update the scorecard.
  • Facebook – Edwards adds the most new followers over the past month. This is the third consecutive month that this team has added the most new followers.
  • Twitter – Edwards adds the most new follower over the past month. This has been the case in EVERY evaluation that I have conducted.
  • Other – No new videos from Van Hollen over the past month. Edwards has published two new videos (but with very little views on either video).

A significant factor in evaluating online outreach is looking at follower engagement. In March, I am focusing my reviews on recent Twitter engagement. Want to know how i get the numbers? READ THIS. Here are the recent Twitter numbers for the candidates:

Candidate

Tweets Evaluated

Engagement Score

Van Hollen

7 most recent

47

Edwards

7 most recent

208

Notes:

  • Edwards most recent tweets has a significantly higher engagement value over Van Hollen. Edwards has an engagement score of 102 (26 retweets and 50 favorites) with just one tweet.
  • Both candidates remain very active on Twitter and I highly recommend following both candidates.

Online Outreach Leader in this race: Donna Edwards – her campaign online accounts over the past month were just better than the Van Hollen accounts. Until this month, it had been a draw every evaluation but the adding of new followers on all accounts and the engagement score puts Edwards in the top spot in March.

Of course the reality of followers, likes, and subscribers does not mean a lot when it comes down to voting in the end, but it can show trends in a campaign cycle and makes a great resource for following all of the candidates.
