2015 Year In Review

2015-Year-In-Review

What a fun, exciting and interesting year it has been. To capture it all in one blog post would be impossible, just way to many things happened in 2015. Here are a few highlights:

Blog stats: As of today, the site has had exactly 26,525 views. In 2014 the site had 18,948 views. I am sure I am not breaking any blog records but nice to see that the site has some interest.

Top 5 Blog posts of 2015:

  1. Ann DeLacy – Howard County Board of Education Member – Social Media Comments
  2. Poll – Which Democrat will win the Primary in MD08
  3. Poll – Which Democrat will win the Primary in MD04
  4. GOP Debate Tomorrow
  5. MD04 Poll Results

Note – The Ann DeLacy post not only was the most viewed post this year but is the most viewed post of all time for this site.

I wanted to mention a few bloggers that really help drive traffic to the site:

(I know there are others and I really do thank you all that mention the posts or the site).

2015 Mobbies Results:

Although no wins for Scott E’s blog or ScottE Software, I am very happy with the 2015 results. Coming in 2nd for best political blog was a big deal given the number of great political blogs on the list that I read regularly.

Best Political Blog: Scott E’s blog came in 2nd place (out of 13)

Best Suburbs Blog: Scott E’s blog came in 6th place (out of 22)

Best Twitter account: @scottesoftware came in 9th place (out of 70)

Best Instagram account: @scottesoftware came in 6th place (out of 65)

2015 Best of Howard County:

This was my first time entered into a category for Best of Howard. The only category ScottE Software fit into was Computer Repair (yes, we do that for small businesses). No win in 2015, but honorable mention and apparently a tie for 2nd place is not bad (seriously, how could I beat Best Buy in a write in category).

Big change in 2015:

And my biggest item in 2015 was leaving my position as Chief Information Officer of an organization in Montgomery County (that I was a part of over the past 16 years) to strike out on my own and take ScottE Software Development full time to work with the technology and social media needs of small businesses and other organizations.

Howard County Times wrote an article about my transition:  http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/howard/columbia/ph-ho-cf-scotte-software-development-growing-0723-20150720-story.html

The support I have received from my family, friends and the community has been excellent. I have received nothing but positive responses and some wonderful references for new business opportunities. I can not thank all of you enough.

I have had the privilege to work with some wonderful campaigns, companies, organizations, and entrepreneurs over this past year. I want to thank them all and I look forward to doing more with them in 2016.

Looking forward to 2016:

Really…who knows. I am hoping the ScottE Software continues on the track that was started in 2015. I am planning some new strategies and time will tell if they help expand new business opportunities.  As for the Blog, the Technology Outreach Scorecards will be the big ticket item over the next year. Those evaluations are what put this blog on the map in 2014 and there are some interesting races (including right here in Howard County) that I expect readers to watch closely. Shelby (my daughter) is working on some exciting art projects this year and I hope to put occasional posts displaying her work. I am sure there will be many new topics to write about in 2016…so check back regularly.

I hope you all have a wonderful New Years celebration in a couple of days. Be safe but make it great.

Scott E
