Maryland State Delegate – District 13 – August Technology Scorecard

Howard County DistrictsThe candidates as a whole in this race remain one of the least active groups I evaluate. There is still time for the candidates to change but I do not have high hopes at this point. I spent some time at the Howard County Fair on its last day in hopes of seeing some of these candidate. I found one (Jimmy Williams).

Comments: I will start with some of the new stuff added to the scorecard. I am now listing Chris Yates pages on Democracy.com. I know it is not a “real” campaign site but at least it is something to list for this candidate. Danny Eaton launched a YouTube channel and posted one video. Time will tell if this candidate decides to do more with this social media platform. *Update – I forgot to mention that Jimmy Williams has released two new videos on his YouTube channel since the last evaluation. Click the link above and check them out.*

Vanessa Atterbeary continues to hold a significant follower advantage on Facebook. Now if she would just start using the site again. There have been no posts since June 25th.

Jimmy Williams is the only candidate active on social media. He is not gaining followers at a significant pace but at least he is giving an effort. That is much more than I can say about any of the other candidates. I do like the fact that he picked up a decent number of new followers on Instagram.

Here is a look at the Facebook activity over the past week of the candidate pages in this race: (Jimmy is the only candidate posting so he easily leads in Facebook engagement).

I am not going to choose an outright technology outreach leader in this race today. Maybe in the future. If you talk with these candidate I recommend that you urge them to begin using social media for outreach to us (I live in D13 and that is why I say us).
