Anne Arundel County Executive – August Technology Scorecard

Anne Arundel Logo After a very interesting Primary it is down to two candidates (Schuh vs Johnson). Based on the total number of votes in the Primary this could be a close race and using every tool available may be very important for these candidates.

Now on to the evaluation…

The candidates:

George Johnson –

Steve Schuh  –

The Scorecard: (Click the “Yes” or follower numbers below to view the social media page)

George Johnson

Steve Schuh

395 (+196)

2554 (+197)

267 (+124)

982 (+102)

21 (+3)

53 (+2)

Comments: Steve Schuh holds an obvious technology outreach advantage today. His social media accounts have been active much longer than his opponent and he has done a good job attracting and retaining followers on his various social media channels. My one criticism is the campaign is still linking their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

There is some positive news for George Johnson, he added more followers that Steve Schuh on Twitter (by a slim margin) and added an equal number of Facebook followers since that last evaluation in June. Social media is about engagement and trends and this is a positive trend that the Johnson camp should embrace and promote.

Here is a look at the Facebook activity over the past week of the candidate pages in this race: (Steve Schuh had the best week with Facebook Engagement).

AA CE Facebook Activity August

Steve Schuh is the technology outreach leader in this race today. His follower advantage and outreach on the various social media platforms is just better than George Johnson today. I will continue to watch this race and the trends as I expect this to be a very interesting race through November.
