I have decided to continue to combine the two races into one scorecard. If you are interested in the April scorecard evaluation of these races, click here:  http://scottesoftware.wordpress.com/2014/04/20/maryland-state-senate-district-12-13-april-technology-scorecard/

Senate 12

District 12

The candidates: To see the official list of candidates click here

Edward Kasemeyer (D) – http://www.edkasemeyer.com/

Jesse Pippy (R) – http://www.jessepippy.com/

The Scorecard: (Click the “Yes” or follower numbers below to view the social media page)

5/24/14

Facebook

Twitter

YouTube

Edward Kasemeyer (D)

115 (+27)

Jesse Pippy (R)

243 (+10)

294 (+12)

Here are my takeaways from the scorecard above:

Edward Kasemeyer added the most new followers over the past month on Facebook. Jesse Pippy continues to hold the overall technology outreach advantage in this race. Neither candidate is doing much at this point but it is a long way to November and both candidates have plenty of time to expand their campaign outreach.

Guy Guzzone (D)

323 (+6)

624 (+48)

Jody Venkatesan (R)

223 (+5)

31 (+5)

Yes

Here are my takeaways from the scorecard above:

It was great to see the website operational for Jody Venkatesan on this evaluation.

Guy Guzzone made a really nice jump in Twitter followers over the past month. He continues to hold a significant technology outreach advantage in this race. I am going to continue to ding this team on linking Facebook and Twitter together, read why here:  Social Media Mistakes By Political Candidates – Part 3 – Linking Facebook to Twitter

More outreach from both of these candidates would be great but like the race above there is plenty of time between now and November to make improvements.

HoCoBlogs Running for office in Howard County? Don’t miss this great event on May 28th in Ellicott City to meet local bloggers and blog readers:  https://www.eventjoy.com/e/hocoblogs-patio-party-at-alexandras. Make sure to RSVP soon!

Of course the reality of followers, likes, and subscribers does not mean a lot when it comes down to voting in the end, but it is a fun exercise to do and makes a great resource for following all of these candidates.
