Howard County Council – District One Race – May Technology Scorecard

Howard County Council Districts Map After a nice little vacation I am back at work on Scorecard updates. Before that I wanted to thank Amanda Yeager for the really nice article on the Baltimore Sun website (see below for the link).

Back to this scorecard, the previous evaluations remain some of the most popular of all of the races I am evaluating. If you are interested in reading the previous evaluations click here: April | March | February

Now on to the evaluation…

Here are my takeaways from the scorecard above:

Jon Weinstein added the most new followers on Facebook and Twitter and now holds a nice advantage on those platforms over all of the other candidates.

Wendy Royalty continues to hold the most outreach and is still adding a nice number of new followers.

Kevin Schmidt added the second most new Twitter followers and has added Google+ to his campaign outreach. I love the new outreach on Google+ and look forward to more posts in the future from this account.

There are other candidates that have Google+ pages but are not using or promoting them yet. My hope is that if they make it through the primary that they will consider using that platform for outreach. It can only help going forward.

I think my one surprise was that the number of new followers significantly fell off for Lisa Markovitz. She had some great add numbers (on Facebook at least) over the previous two evaluations.

Not much to report on Grabowski or Melton. It just is what it is at this point.

As far as an overall leader, I have to call it a draw between Wendy Royalty and Jon Weinstein. Royalty has more overall outreach but it is hard to ignore the new adds from the Weinstein camp. There is no question that Kevin Schmidt remains the number three position overall and I believe this team will only continue to improve going forward.

Of course the reality of followers, likes, +1′s and subscribers does not mean a lot when it comes down to voting in the end, but it is a fun exercise to do and makes a great resource for following the candidates.
