Maureen Evans Arthurs

Maureen Evans Arthurs is a candidate for Board of Education in Howard County Maryland.

Maureen is a lifelong resident of Howard County and a graduate of HCPSS. Growing up in Owen Brown, she lived just across the street from the East Columbia Library where she cultivated her love of learning. She attended Cradlerock Elementary (formerly Dasher Green), Lake Elkhorn Middle (formerly Owen Brown), and graduated from Oakland Mills High School.  

She attended Howard Community College and was twice the recipient of the Outstanding Service to Howard Community College award and received the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges distinction. Maureen went on to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where she studied Gender Studies and Political Science. While at UMBC she was a McNair Research Fellow, studying the educational attainment and community experiences of African American adolescent girls in Baltimore City.
